After being a stay at home mom for the past 9 years, I am going back to teaching at a local preschool part time this fall. I taught preschool and kindergarten in New Jersey before having Maddie and moving to NC. In the past I have been a room mom for HES and volunteered on the teacher appreciation committee. I am excited to be the VP of advocacy and hope to give all families a chance to get involved at HES.
VP of Fundraising
My name is Katie Gierke and I have 4 kids. 5th,4th, k and 3’s. We moved from the Chicago land area 1.5 years ago and absolutely love Huntersville! While being a mom of 4 is so fulfilling I’m also a photographer. I started my company 9 years ago and continue to shoot families and weddings both in Chicago and Charlotte. I still volunteer for an organization called Erika’s Lighthouse. We have created a curriculum that is implemented in middle schools as well as high schools, that educated students and staff on mental health/ depression education. It is based out of Chicago, however, the
curriculum is free to anyone online and is being used all over the world. I helped create the marathon program that annually brings in over $100,000 a year for our funding needs. I’m so excited to be part of this years PTA board. Raising money is something that I love to do and know that if we all work together as a school we can meet our goals and hopefully surpass them!
This is my 5th year on the HES PTA Board! I have also been VP of Advocacy and VP of Communications prior to Secretary. My children Preston and Samantha are in 5th and 2nd grade. I work full time in Digital Marketing at Bank of America and love cooking, traveling and Burn Boot Camp! Our family LOVES HES and everything my husband Jeff and I do for this school comes from our complete adoration of it and all the people here. We get excited for everything PTA does because they all feel the same way we do. So when we collaborate, great things happen. Go Bulldogs!

I started as treasurer of the PTA when we moved to NC in 2018. I am excited to be a part of HES’s PTA because of the vast opportunities to enrich our students lives. My goal is to be dedicated to HES and give all I have back to the school that gives so much to my children each and every day.
